K9 for a Day
The La Vista Police Department has partnered with the Nebraska Humane Society to give adoptable dogs a better chance at finding their forever home!

On a regular basis, La Vista officers will take NHS dogs out on patrol.

This will help the dogs become more social and will help the community know about the animals available for adoption through the humane society.

The first K9 for a day will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Meet ?Mickey!
M-I-C - he hopes to SEE you really soon - K-E-Y - why? because he loves you! Yes, Mickey got his name because he has a Mickey Mouse head on his back. This lovable guy may not be the beloved cartoon mouse, but he IS a K9 character, bringing smiles to the faces of his NHS pals. At 6 years old, he's a mature guy, but still an energetic, fun-loving terrier who loves to play, especially with toys. Because he can be possessive of his toys, he needs a home with no kids under age 12. HE will gladly be the toy-loving "kid" of his new family! No apartments for Mickey, as he needs to romp in a fenced yard. But this "escape artist" jumped the fence in his previous home, so he needs either a 6 foot privacy fence or a tether to insure that he stays safely in the yard if no one is with him. Once he's had some playtime in a yard, Mickey can "chill," lounging around with his people. This people-loving pooch relishes belly-rubs and snuggling. But NO CATS for Mickey, and he should probably be the ONLY DOG. His manners when excited have improved with consistent training. This smart boy received the Teacher's Pet grade on his NHS report card and will do anything for treats, which makes training him fun. If you are looking for a mature, fun-loving K9 character to liven-up your life and steal your heart (like Mickey Mouse!) - and have what this guy needs, stop by NHS to meet him. He's waiting patiently for his forever home and family.
